Essential Wear to Work
As a young professional, I find myself spending a lot of time each day piecing together looks for the workplace. I teach middle school choir and often struggle to find a balance between comfortable, breathable outfits (for a hot classroom) and ones that help me feel confident. I’m only 5ft 2 inches tall and even on my most dressy days often blend in with my students. It’s a constant effort to find functional, professional work clothing as a petite women.
One closet staple that I find myself returning to over and over again are shift skirts. They come in a variety of prints and fabrics and can easily be paired with almost every top in my closet. Not only does this save me time in the morning, but it helps me stretch my work wardrobe as much as possible.
Another plus is that shift skirts can be worn year round! Wear with heels in the summer/spring and your favorite tights and boots for winter/fall. I’ve linked some of my favorite tights below. They are all currently under $15!!! Click on any image or view all of my favorite tights here!
These skirts are also comfortable and offer a greater level of mobility than a pencil skirt. As a teacher I’m constantly moving around and need clothing that can keep me comfortable during the day. Check out some of my essential work wear items below!
