Brighten Up Your Winter Wardrobe

It’s mid January and, if you’re a Midwesterner like me, another cloudy 30 degree day. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in the Mitten State but winter weather is not one of its perks! When it’s cold and dreary outside, my initial tendency is to throw on my favorite over sized crew neck sweater and call it a day. However, I’ve recently been making an effort to step up my winter wardrobe in an attempt to brighten my mood and the mood of those around me! Sometimes seeing a pop of color or something floral is enough to push past the winter slump and feel motivated!

Below, I’m sharing some simple tips to elevate your winter wardrobe!

Go Floral

Remember going outside and seeing greenery and fresh flowers outside? Seems like forever ago! Take a little bit of spring with you by wearing fun floral patterns. It seems like whenever I wear floral prints, I always get compliments by my coworkers (and students)! It always brings a smile to my face knowing I can bring a bit of spring to the people I care about!

There are tons of floral options hitting stores right now with the anticipation of Spring Break! Check out some of my favorites here!

Chose Bright Colors

This tip seems obvious but thing about it: so many winter colors are dark and drab! When I look around my classroom I see mostly gray, navy, and black clothes this time of year. Throw in your favorite pink top or olive pants for work. Something as simple as a bright pair of statement earrings can even give you an extra boost during the winter!

These bright options will spice up your wardrobe in no time!

Add Some Ruffles

Remember that little ruffle bikini that is somewhere in the back of your drawer stuffed behind those fuzzy socks? Add a little bikini inspired ruffle to your winter wardrobe to keep you feeling spunky! There are so many great ruffle options in stores right now. Some sleeve ruffles or a cure ruffle collar can really elevate a simple top!

Happy Wednesday, happy shopping, and stay warm!
