Playing with Solid Colors

Sarah:

Do you remember using Playdough when you were a kid? All those bright colors layered on top of each other to create an artistic masterpiece! (Or, if you were anything like me, something that looked like a cross between a caterpillar and a dog…!)

Despite my non-existent sculpting talents, this love of mixing and matching bright colors stuck with me and is one of my favorite things to do with clothes. Layering solid colors is a great way to build a unique look that is all your own.

When wearing multiple monochrome items, don’t be afraid to add lots of different textured fabrics and prints to add dimension to your outfit!

The pocket detail of the pink skirt adds another layer of texture against it’s woven background. The yellow beaded necklace also adds  dimension to the outfit and pairs well with the texture of the skirt. How fun!

This adorable leaf-print tote has a bolder pattern but doesn’t overwhelm the pocket detail on the skirt. I could carry this tote with practically any outfit! It’s so cute and versatile!

Lastly, don’t be afraid to choose bold colors and try new combinations. Let your clothes express the vibrant, inner you!

Happy mixing!
