5 Tips to Create New Content and Stay Inspired
Happy Blogger Tip Tuesday! Today we’re excited to share some tips on a topic that we are constantly asked about: How to stay inspired as a blogger. It’s definitely not easy having to come up with fresh ideas every day but as teachers, we like to think we’re somewhat skilled in the art of creativity and resilience. We’ve all had our moments of creative block and wondered: “Where can I go from here?” Below you can find 5 tips to create new content that have continued to inspire us over the past year! Don’t forget to check out all of our Blogger Tip Tuesday posts HERE!
5 Tips to Create New Content: Search for Inspiration
When we find ourselves going through a creative block, we like to turn to fellow bloggers and visual sources for inspiration! Instagram, Pinterest and retailer websites are all great places to look for posing inspiration, great color combos, and trending styles. Are you struggling with creative photo shoot ideas? Scour Pinterest and your favorite bloggers’ pages for an artistic boost. Check out our Pinterest board “Posing Inspiration” for great ideas we’ve found in our search. You can also check out our blog post “10 Picture Posing Ideas for Instagram” for even more ideas!.
We also love checking retailer websites for their “new arrivals” and seeing how stores are promoting new pieces/styles. Pick your favorite trends and play them up on your feed! We enjoy spending an hour on the weekend going around the mall and snapping pictures of clothes to buy/share in the future. Save these pictures to a special album on your phone and use them as inspiration when you feel stuck!
5 Tips to Create New Content: Don't Work Under Pressure
Anyone else ever had a moment where it’s late, you’ve been up for hours trying to get a project finished and finally just thrown up your hands and said “screw it!” You ended up turning in something you weren’t super proud of but simply ran out of time to give your creative best. Yup…not proud of it but we’ve had our moments of working under pressure. The more you can limit these pressured clock ticking moments the better!
PREPARE BEFORE HAND! Do you know you have a collab deadline coming up next week? Don’t wait until Sunday evening to start shooting pictures. We find that batching content and giving ourselves a few extra days before deadlines allows us to work at our creative best without feeling stressed. You can’t always eliminate short turn over projects (we know you’re just as buys as we are) but the less stress, the more you can enjoy the journey and give yourself time to reflect and improve.
5 Tips to Create New Content: Poll Your Audience
When you run out of ideas turn to your viewers! After all, blogging is about helping others-so ask them what they’re searching for. Use polls and questions on Instagram Stories, request feedback on your posts and pay attention to what your audience says. Tailoring your content to your viewers is a great way to boost engagement and motivation. If you have that group of super dedicated followers, you can even DM them with questions.
We want to take a moment to say that asking for help and feedback does not make you any less of an artist! In fact, we’ve found that our audience loves sharing their opinions and feel appreciated to know their feedback can make a difference!
5 Tips to Create New Content: Take Time to Recharge
Even big bloggers have started taking a few days off here and there to refresh and recharge. In the blogging world it can be hard to separate work from personal time since they’re somewhat intertwined. We suggest taking at least 1 day a week to step back from social media and recenter yourself.
We normally post twice a day but have cut back to posting once on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This has made a huge impact for us and we can start back at the start of the week feeling ready to hit the ground running!
5 Tips to Create New Content: Study Your Strengths
If you have an Instagram business account, you can use your analytics to help in the creative process. Study which posts got great engagement, which ones didn’t do so well. Is there a trend? Maybe your audience loves flat lays or pictures of you and your significant other. Take at least 20 minutes this week to study your analytics for creative ideas.
