5 Editing Tools For Instagram We Use Every Week
I get asked all the time “What editing tools for Instagram do you use?” There are hundreds if not thousands of editing apps out there for bloggers and it can get pretty overwhelming whether you’re a seasoned blogger or just starting out. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite editing apps that I use on a weekly basis to curate my content.
For even more tips, check out our Blogging Page to see our weekly posts about blogging. You can also head to our Instagram to see our Feed and Stories to see these tools in action!
These apps are just the tip of the iceberg so please comment below or email with any questions!
5 Editing Tools For Instagram: Lightroom
Lightroom is our go to, beat all, most used editing app. It’s where most of the magic happens before we post! In Lightroom we apply our favorite preset “pastel pop” and can tweak lighting and colors to our ideal! There are lots of tutorials on the app and if you’re serious about making your pictures look their best we suggest upgrading to their Premium subscription. It lets you edit RAW photos (the purest/highest quality file) and play with tools such as “selective adjustments” which lets you tweak lighting and colors in certain spots of your pic.
5 Editing Tools For Instagram: Retouch
I stumbled upon this app one day and it’s been a favorite ever since. Since we shoot a lot in the city, there will often be people/bright neon signs in the background of our shots. Not what you’re going for? Simply highlight the area you want to remove and voila! The object is magically erased. There are also some fine tuning tools if you want to get really specific about what you’re editing out. This tool is great for vacay shots so you can erase the random arm that makes its way into your shot or the endless stream of tourists behind you.
5 Editing Tools For Instagram: Preview
This app is great for showing you how to make a cohesive Instagram feed. Once I edit my pictures in Lightroom, I import them into Preview so I can play around with the order of my pictures for the week. This is also helpful since Leah and I both shoot content for our page. We can make sure our feed isn’t too heavy on certain colors or poses in one spot!
This app will also post to Instagram for you but we recommend always posting yourself as Instagram sometimes sees these 3rd party apps as “spammy actions”.
5 Editing Tools For Instagram: Photoshop Express
This app does much of what Lightroom does but with a few exceptions. They have their own selection of filters, overlays, and an AMAZING background blur function that can make your iPhone pictures look like they were taken on a DSLR! If you’re looking to take your pics to the next level, this is a great app to try!
They also have some really cool collage formats you can try! This is great for Instagram, Pinterest, and IG stories!
5 Editing Tools For Instagram: Facetune
We mainly use Facetune for whitening backgrounds but it has a lot of great uses! You can blur blemishes, adjust colors, even add lighting and background blur. It’s a very popular app and has several versions with different functions to fit your needs.
Once thing we would say is NEVER use apps to alter your physical appearance: “(rim your waist, make your eyes bigger etc.) Your social media is a place to portray the truest form of yourself! With all the unrealistic beauty ideals out there, it’s up to us influencers to embrace our bodies and celebrate them! We only encourage using editing apps to bring our your natural beauty.
