Fall is also one of our favorite seasons to get outside and take pictures together! Today we’re sharing 5 easy fall posing tips so you can capture all this season has to offer. Whether you’re an experienced photographer or just getting started, these poses are easy and guaranteed to impress!
5 Easy Fall Posing Tips: Get Creative With Leaves
There are so many pictures you can try for fall but today we’re talking all things LEAVES. They’re colorful, fun shaped, and FREE! Whenever we’re shooting, free props are always the best props! They also offer an endless variety of uses for your next photoshoot. Check out these 5 easy fall posing tips with leaves below!
1. Throw Some Leaves
This one might seem like a no brainer, but seeing colorful leaves flutter through the air is basically like throwing confetti! It adds motion, excitement and color to your pictures.
PRO TIP: Have your photographer ready to take pictures continuously (fast shutter speed) to get the leaves falling just right! You can also use a tripod and then have a friend throw leaves out of the shot so you don’t have to worry about throwing and posing! This also helps if you’re dealing with wind.
2. Use Leaves as Clothes
Of the 5 easy fall posing tips we’re sharing today, this one always gets the best reaction from our audience! They love this playful and creative pose and so do we! Stand back from your photographer and have them hold a leaf in front of the camera to cover your lower body. Let them position the leaf to look like a skirt! We’ve also seen people use leaves as wings, balloons and so much more!
PRO TIP: The hardest part of this pose is getting both the leaf and the subject to be in focus. This shot is easiest done on an iPhone if you’re not used to using editing apps. If you do like using editing apps, we recommend taking a single shot of your hand holding the leaf against a neutral background first. Then using an app such as Picsart or Lightroom you can layer the images of you and the leaf shot.
3. Do a Leaf Wink
This easy fall posing tip it cute, girly, and playful. Grab a colorful leaf of your choice and cover one eye. It’s as simple as that! This pose is always great with friends because it’s so lighthearted.
PRO TIP: Play around with camera angles and even try lying upside down! There’s no limit to creativity with this pose.
4. Grab an Umbrella
This pose always gets a smile from our followers. This shot is easy to do when there are still plenty of leaves on the trees. Grab an umbrella and stand under the fall foliage. It’s like your caught in a leaf storm!
PRO TIP: Have a friend stand out of the shot and throw a handful of leaves overhead for an extra dramatic effect. This will add some action to your shot with leaves falling all around you.
5. Use Leaves as a Background
Of all our easy fall posing tips, this one is so simple yet always creates such a magical image! It’s also a great idea for later in the season when you still want to capture fall content but there might not be a ton of leaves left on the trees. Find a spot on the ground completely covered with leaves or scoop up a pile and take it to an ideal location. The leaves will add texture, color, and a whimsical touch to your pictures!
PRO TIP: Bring a step stool or a wide angle lens so your photographer can shoot directly from above you. Play around with framing your face with your arms, putting some leaves in your hair, and looking at and away from the camera!
